Do you tip for carryout?

I have to work on Valentines day until 6, so I'm bringing home some Outback for wife and I to enjoy during a movie. She mentioned to me to plan for a tip and I was shocked. Why in the world would I tip a cashier that just took my carryout order. Is this standard/expected?
