Do you think you could be a vegan without cultivation?

if your life consisted of just the tools of a prehistoric homo-sapian hunter-gatherer society, do you think it would be possible to survive on vegetation alone? it's believed neanderthals were physically stronger thanhomo-sapianan, had similar brains, had the same tools and fire, but some say they went extinct because they were carnivorous. i have no objection to vegetarianism/veganism, but i don't consider it natural, because in a natural situation, a picky diet is a big disadvantage, and homo-sapians have clearly dominated the planet. before cultivating societies, do you think it was possible to take hunter out of hunter-gatherer and survive?
