...sticker and American flag on her ca? car? I think if we are paying taxes and health care to educate our future American students and the teacher is a union member is she trying to slap everyone else in the face? Most people do not get the state welfare of health insurance to go to a job and help keep fellow Americans out of work? Have we lost sense of living in this country to club our neighbors over the head to get more at any cost , even to sell out ourselves?
Ceo's should step down, government should not permit the trade imbalance? Capital country? Good idea, why for 30yrs has our government used our tax dollars to help business that is not American over our own nation?

Perhaps you don't realize that many Toyotas are made in the USA?

In fact just about every car made in the US is made by a joint venture between an American and a Japanese company. GM and Toyota. Ford and Mazda. Chrysler and Mitsubishi (and Mercedes Benz).

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area we have an auto plant, the only one left west of the Mississippi. Small pickup trucks are made there with both GM and Toyota nameplates. The exact same truck. Previously they made the Chevy Nova and the Geo Prism. Same car, two different nameplates. The Prism sold for more money!

American car companies are in business to satisfy peoples' wants and needs. If you buy an American car just because it's American, you are not really doing the auto companies a favor. They need to learn to compete with the Japanese on a level playing field. To really be successful, the American companies need to sell cars overseas too. This teacher bought a Toyota not out of spite or hatred for her country but because it better met her needs. More reliable, more long-lived, easier on gas. Tell me why American companies can't make a car like that?

I'm a union member. I proudly display the American flag. And I drive a Scion (a why pay more Toyota).

Not slapping anyone in the face. Scion was the only company that would finance my sorry @$$ for a car loan.

What's the big deal?

how is she "trying to slap everyone else in the face"

just because she owns a Toyota ???

but then how would that be considered "to get more at any cost" ?
