threat could be overblown? http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/scienceclimatewarmingglaciersgreenland_newsmlmmd

Think of the debate as a pendulum. At first it was to the left, everyone was going bananas over the end of the world. Now people are to the right, "its a hoax, the science is off, there are crazies running the European push for defeating global warming". But what I think, is in the near-future, when we can be very prescise and know what is going on better, the pendulum will swing to the left again.

I think climate change (i hate the phrase global warming) will kick us in the butt after years and years of no drastic activity.

This is a part out of the article:
Vieli cautioned that his findings, published in Nature Geoscience, are narrowly focused on one glacier, and that sea levels could still rise higher than the IPCC's original projections.
Other Greenland glaciers behave differently, and the dynamics of the Antarctic ice sheet are still poorly understood, he noted.
Nor should the new study "be taken out of context to suggest that climate change is not a serious threat -- it is," he added.

CLEARLY the idea of global warming is not overblown. its something that everyone should take seriously... even if this one scientist is right that glaciers aren't as affected by global warming as one would believe it doesn't mean that other aspects of our environment aren't and won't be severely affected by the global changes. AND IF you absurdly don't believe global warming is happening it is still a good idea to follow the new ways of a healthier earth... driving less and using less energy, emitting less carbon into the air. walk and bike more... it's good for your health
