Do you think this opening statement would win a debate?

The debate is on raising the driving age to 18 we are the pros:

“Teenage boys from Chicago went out for a late-night drive and had a terrible accident. The car spun out of control and struck several objects, including a giant light pole. Two of the boys--a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old--were killed. The driver of the car was just 16.

After this tragic accident, thousands of people began asking what could be done to prevent this from happening again.

The answer is raising the driving age. That's why I introduced legislation to raise the driving age in Illinois from 16 to 18. I realize this idea is controversial, but I could not stand by and watch one more young person die because he or she was not quite ready to be behind the wheel.”

Now, do you want to put your life in jeopardy, all because you want to drive? Personally, I can’t wait to drive, but I can wait if it means making me safer than I think I really am.
18-year-olds are more mature than 16-year-olds. Plus, they’re older too and are practically adults. Drinking and driving is another influence that, mostly every day, pressures students. Younger people drink and drive and text while driving and can’t remember to wear seatbelts and if they got into an accident, WHOOSH! Right out the windshield, and splattered across the street.
Human life is precious, and we don’t want to waste it while driving under the influence.
So, go ahead and drive at age 16 if you disagree with my statement. Learn from your mistakes, get into an accident, and die. Thank you.
