Do you think they just made up episodes as they went for the TV series "LOST"?

After all, the producers only decided to keep Ben Linus after good reviews about him so they must have had to change the script as it was all about him for most of the series.

Perhaps the ending might have been different had the actor who portrayed Ben Linus not had good reviews?
