Not neccesarily. In many cases, public education is some kid's only chance at having a career when they grow up. Sometimes kids and teens may be put in positions where they have to begin providing for younger siblings or sick parents. If there was no public education, those kids would probably have to find some place to begin working at a young age. Public school seems to also lower gang activity amongst kids because they actually have a place to be as opposed to spending the weekdays out running the streets.
I dont think it really changes us, except by making us study subjects that may not be particularly that interesting. Overall I think public school is a good thing.
