Do you think the media shows fairness in their crime related stories?

I live in a town that has had a moderate amount of crime over the years but the town next door that has a "reputation" for crime is always in the news. Top story most of the time.

A few weeks ago a man was found murdered in my neighbors drive way. Not once did the newspaper or TV mention it. Why?

Why does the media pick on certain neighborhoods? or do they?
 
It isn't the neighborhood so much as it is the type of crime. the more violent the more exposure.
