Do you think the media helps drive an already struggling economy even further down? Example: The Mortgage "Crisis." Media makes it sound like the Great Depression all over again, when in actuality, only about 2% of all mortgages were in trouble. Not great, but not the end of the world. Corn goes up in price due to using the food as fuel. (Dumb, but not part of this question.) The media starts screaming about people in other countries not being able to but tortilla flour. Saw that one on CNN.
So does the media hurt recovery chances? And do you have any other examples of "chicken little" reporting?
