divorce isn't an option for them? This isn't to say you can't get divorced if something goes horribly wrong, but wouldn't it prevent bad marriages in the first place if the couple believed there was no way out of the marriage? Wouldn't it encourage married couples to actually put work into making their marriage good instead of easily giving up and just getting divorced? Why is it that we treat divorce like it's a normal solution instead of a means out of an extreme circumstance?
