Do you think The Bible is contradictory? (mainly sexuality rant)?

Please, don't preach, don't tell me or anyone else they are going to Hell. I'm trying to approach this subject maturely and with an open mind, and I simply ask you do to the same. I've thought quite a bit about this.

I myself haven't read The Bible (havent had an oppertunity to, I dont think I have the patience, and I believe it's veiws are too different from mine for me to spend any money on it.), but doesn't it say 'Love thy neighbour'?. But doesn't it also say something along the lines of 'If man lie with man as he lies with a woman, he shall not be forgiven in this age, nor the next'..?
What if my neighbour is a homosexual? Am I supposed to forget the fact that he or she are a decent and caring person, perhaps even a Christian, and shun them or other such un-neighbourly actions??

What if I were a faithful and decent Christian (or whatever) and I were gay, bi, or supported those who are gay/bi? Would I be shunned for believing in something I think is right?
Weren't we created - by God - with our own free wills? Our own hearts, minds, souls and desires?

Or should we abide by the rules he has (supposedly, - not that I am accusing, just being open) laid down upon us, so that we may rest in Heaven, with his favour?

And, if God loves all of his children... doesn't that include homosexuals, transgenders, and people who have pre-marital sex? Out of other things a man(/woman) can do with or in his(/her) life, surely these are not so bad?
If he were a murderous, rapist, or pedophile, would he be better or worse than a gay, and would he still be loved?

Sorry for how long and annoying this question must be!! <3
"Not many are willing to bring themselves to God by admitting their way isn't the right way..." I agree with that, discord71, though not with the rest of your statement. That you for the feedback though <3
I appreciate all your comments, feedback, and opinions. I probably won't change my veiws, but I appreciate yours, and its great that you can believe in something so strongly!
I, personally, would rather not be of any religion, as I find most to be a bit restricting, and sometimes harsh - And that's not just because of certain people.

If you haven't read it then how do you figure you have the right to judge those who have?

We are all loved by God..However some just simply do not love Him back. They don't acknowledge His laws or His ways and therefore do not see themselves as sinful and needing Him for their salvation. God desires a repentful heart..Not many are willing to bring themselves to God by admitting their way isn't the right way...

I know you don't agree, however how else do you explain those who choose paths that are "compatible" with their way of living?

Yes we were created with free will. The will to know what is right and wrong. What you THINK is right, does not have athourity over what God says is wrong. It just doesn't .

Look at it this way, You may not see any reason what so ever for a stop sign on a road that you travel each day. You may have stopped there countless times and never seen another car. After years and years of never meeting a car, you may decide this is stupid, I will just ignore the sign. And you may cause an accident.

It is not our right to determine what we think is right or wrong if we wish to claim to be Christians. No one if forced to be a follower of christ. But if you choose to do so, you must follow his rules or you are just wasting your time.

No you don't haft to shun anyone, but that does not mean that you can over rule the law. A Christian should always reach out, help, and love everyone you can. But that does not give you the right in God's eyes to do things that you know are against his will. things such as voting to have abortion legal, or voting to have same sex marriage. You love the people, you dislike the sin.

And yes, God loves each and every person, but he is also just. He will judge each of us by his law.

No, we should love all our neighbors. I mean, that what God wanted. Im orthodox catholic, which, if you know orthodoxy, is the most tradtional church, at least compared to the watered down Roman church. Anyway, being gay isnt really your choice. I mean, i cant stop myself from being straight, just like gay ppl cant stop themselves from being gay. THe thing is, we shouldnt act up on our urges. I mean, straight ppl shouldnt have sex before mairrage, and gays shouldnt (i know it sounds grim for them) pursue sexual relationships with people of the same sex. That doesnt mean that we shouldnt love them, love them as a person, as a brother. But dont support them to commit sexual acts, relatioships, etc.

and even if they are already in a relationship, dont hate them or shun them. Still love them as people, cause as the bible says, do not judge.

"Love the sinner, hate the sin" is the usual way to go. It is unfortunate that many Christians carry it too far and start to hate the sinner.

christian bigots have promoted homophobia for centuries

"homosexual" wasn't a term until 1869 so it can't be in the bible or a sin

"hate the sin" is used to cover for homophobia hatred

the bigots cherry-pick the bible to suit themselves
