Do you think that it should be a requirement upon graduation that everyone should...

...work in a restaurant? For at least 6 months? I think everyone should work in a restaurant for at least 6 months, whether it's front of the house- serving or back of the house cooking, so people can appreciate the people who work in restaurants. Think about it: restaurants are always gonna be around, everybody's gotta eat. But I see way too many people mistreat their servers and cooks and they bust their butts for people who don't know what hard work they go through (and get crappy tips) So I think everyone should experience this.
I say restaurants because it involves customer service, and I already said it:: restaurants will always be around, people gotta eat!

I don't know about just a restaurant, but any kind of customer service. There are rude people coming around in every customer service business, not just restaurants. Why does it have to be upon graduation? Most people work during high-school so it should be mandatory that they work in customer service (which I'm pretty sure most of them do anyway). So really..why do this? A lot of students get this experience on their own.

Besides..nobody made you take a job at a restaurant. There are usually other jobs out there.
I avoided working at a restaurant like the plague and I could always find other jobs willing to hire me like a theater or a candy store. Plenty of idiots coming around there too.

yea - and then everyone should work in a store - then a factory

no i don't cuz some people will never understand anyway and why waste everyone else's life for them

I don't think this is a good idea at all.

For one thing, it's patronising to people who always work in restaurants to make their job the thing to "Appreciate", as though it's the worst job, and people move on to bigger/better things.

Secondly, At least half the people would totally suck at the job, and put the business at risk.

Thirdly, are we just talking about pitiful crappy restaurants, or high-class ones? Who decides which is which? Is my restaurant one to inflict on graduates, or is it worthy of well trained staff?

As for experiencing bad stuff, it happens in other jobs too, why just restaurants?
