too long? Hollywood and consumerism focused too much on the USA and North America. The EU and Middle East have always been in the news. India and China for economic progress. And Africa for poverty. But nobody seems to notice South America. Do you think it is time for South America to produce international talent or host international events?

PS: Congrats to Rio de Janeiro and Brazil for getting to host the 2016 Olympics.
 
The news is an entertainment market. It's no longer about 'the news'. it's about ratings and money, and rule #1 in an entertainment market is give the people what they want. You don't see it on the news because people don't want to watch it. They would rather know about celebrity breakups and weight loss schemes.
