Do you think recycling helps the environment?

Some say that recycling is not worth the money spent for.

for example paper is cheaper to make it new that recycle it, it also releases toxic chemicals to the environment.

but there are some advantages from recycling, cans are reasonable in price to recycle and are also non toxic.

what do you think?
 
i remember a few years ago i used to sell my non crv 1# plastic and non crv cans to the recycling centers now they don't want to buy them so now go in the trash to fill up the landfills what ever happened?
 
You are right in that it is more efficient to make some things new, instead of recycled...like paper as you say. But when you look specifically at glass, plastic, and metals, there is a great advantage in price and efficiency to recycle. Also, from the environmental point of view, if you re-use items, then new material does not need to be procured....which saves energy and prevents damage to the environment.
