Do you think people get a fair shake or trials when Lawyers and Judges know one

another personally? I am just curious if its strange that your lawyer tells you one thing and you see another in court an then you find out that your lawyer is dating the judges daughter or married into the family somehow.

In some states, with small populations, the degree of separation is one degree; everybody knows somebody an dthat person knows somebody. It would UNUSUAL for lawyers and judges that practice in the same region, not to know one another.
That being said, the judge is the one that decides whether he can be fair and unbiased. Or, if your attorney feels the judge is biased , then he can ask the judge to recuse himself. The judge can say no. Then it may be grounds for appeal if the decisions of the judge reveal bias in his rulings. The canons of judicial conduct and the rules of professional responsibility require those admitted to the bar to act upon their duties without bias, even if they know one another. If you have specific concern, please post it.
