Do you think non-belief in a Grand Creator actually hinders scientific advancement?

By the answers I have received, my conclusion is as follows; Like a scientist barking up the wrong tree, because his preliminary results is not what he predicted or wanted, the non-believer restricts himself from deeper, further, more meaningful research by suggesting a conclusion before he has undertaken a full and proper investigation. Therefore, he prevents himself from ever coming to know the works of the true and living God.
