I will try and be brief:
I had one previous Disectomy on my L5 back in Dec: 2005. Pain was immediately relieved down the right leg, but only to return a few months later. Disc began to buldge again.
Oct 2007: Pain became unbearable in lower back, so Nuerosurgeon sent me to PM doctor for epidural injection. Pain was much better, but 3 days after injection my right buttock, back of thigh, and groin area became partially nurab.
I called Nueorsurgeon and left FOUR messages with their office telling them I think something was really wrong. They NEVER called me back, but had the PM doctor office call me back each time. They told me it was from epidural and would wear off.
A WEEK, has now passed and still nurab. PM doctor has me come to see him. He is confused as said the epidural shoudl not do this. He orders MRI. My apt with Nuerosurgeon is still not for an other few weeks. I beg his office staff for an earlir apt, they find one.
TWO weeks since I became nurab I finally get in to see Nueurosurgeon. He reviews MRI and says I have a HUGE hernited disc that neeRAB surgery. I say, Ok, lets do it tonight. He says, No, it can wait till next week. I ask him if waiting the extra week can cause any permanent damage (its already been 2 weeks). He says absolutely not.
THREE weeks since I became nurab, I had surgery. Nuerosurgeon (who is NOT the one to joke at all) says I deserve a plaque on his wall as that was the largest herniated disc he has seen in his 30 yr. career.
So, here I am 9 months since that surgery and in MORE pain now than I ever was. I've had several MRI's and he and my new Orthopedic Spine SPecilist surgeon all agree that their is no compression now and they nerves are just damanged, and that is why I am in pain.
Thank you if you've read this far. Do you think I was treated unfair? I wonder if I had that surgery right when I became nurab I would not be in as much pain as I am today.
(sorry for typos, i have a 2 and 3 yr old at home pulling at me)
