i was thinking last night of authors that have been talked about and remembered, the bronte sisters, charles dickens, JK rowling, JRR tolkien, terry Pratchett and although i hate to put her into a category of authors stephanie meyer.
do you think their gender contributed to their story and therefore their success?

i personally think female authors are more successful, because most of the time they write as the female character in the book, and i think more females/girls read books, compared to boys, so they relate to the"i" in the book more. i mean, not many boys are going to randomly buy a book where your reading it from a girls point of view.
plenty of male authors write amazing books, i just believe that less males read than females and therefore the female authors would make more profit from their "i" books.

I believe that, in contrary of many other forms of art, in writing the chances of both sexes are completely equal.
