Im getting ready to get my first bike. A Triumph Bonneville America. Im also moving to a new apartment.

Im trying to figure out if its worth it to get a Car Port to park the bike under or if I should just get a motorcycle cover and park it in the parking lot. Any ideas?

IS it an absolute necessity to have the bike covered? Thanks!
By Covered I mean covered under a Car Port. I will put a motorcycle cover on the bike no matter where it is. I want to know if the Car Port is necessary

First of all, way to go with the America I saw one at the bike shop the other day, awesome machine. I keep a cover on my Bonneville mainly to keep the bird poop off it. if your parking under trees where branches, acorns,Pine cones, and stuff like that could fall on it then a carport might be a good idea, plus it will give you a shady spot to clean and detail your bike if you're in to all that. I bought a cheap cover for my bike, six months and its already faded, got holes in it. The other day after it rained I took the cover off and the bike was wet I mean get the chamois and dry it off wet. Went to the bike shop and ordered a Triumph all weather cover for it. Cost a bit more but then my Bonny's worth it. Rock n Roll and keep the rubber side down
