Do you think I should pre-lighten my hair on it's own? (Male - With picture)?

Well I want to pre-lighten my hair but I don't know if you're supposed to do it on it's own or if you're supposed to put a different dye on top of it.
I also want your opinion on whether I should or not, Here's a link to a picture of me :
