Back in high school I had a Verizon wireless account, it was the typical account with just texting and calling, nothing fancy and no data. I kept it up to date and always paid my bill on time, they were only $50 a month anyway. Well one month I got a $675 bill that I absolutely refused to pay for obvious reasons, Verizon finally put it on my credit report and of course ruined my credit. Now, several years later I got a letter from them and a check saying "We're sorry, we have made a mistake on your account. Here is a $2.75 check for the difference." Uh huh... because that covers $675 dollars and the several years of ruined credit. When I contacted them to see if they'd take it off of my credit report, considering it was their mistake, they refused to do so until I paid them the $675 even though they had told me that it was their mistake!
Can I sue them for this? Would it make a good case?
