Do you think I can move up to a Yamaha R1 as my next bike?

Hey guys,
I ride a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250 and I have it tricked out so it produces 30 more horsepower than it originally had. I have been pushing this thing to its limits going its top speed around 120 and pushing it hard around every turn. The Yamaha R1 is my dream bike and I was planning on trading in my 250 for a 2010 one when I get back from completing my orders for the Airforce next spring. I have been riding for a few months and still have the rest of the summer to ride. Think I can move up to the R1 as long as I respect its power? I'm in the Airforce so you know I'm responsible and not some ding dong. Thank you guys I'm 18 by the way

Going from a 250 after a few months of riding experience to an R1? Seriously? After a few months its very very doubtful that you can push a 250 to its limits. Try this take the 250 to the local track for several trackday sessions if you find yourself passing ave riders that are on liter bikes you might be ready for a 600. I say this because that little 250 is far more capable with a skilled rider than it's given credit for, and the difference in performance in every area between the 2 bikes is huge to say the least. Top speed means absolutely nothing if you can't rail that bike around a corner at those speeds. My advice would be to give that 250 atleast a year and learn to ride the wheels off it, hit the twisties to those little bikes come into their own there.
