Do you think homosexuals should be allowed to serve in the U.S. military?

I am doing a reseaech paper for English and I need to have input from the public. I would really like to know what you think, the good, bad, and ugly. Thanks

Well let's see, on one hand we have people saying "homosexuals shouldn't fight for a country in which they don't have equal rights". On the other we have people saying "sexual orientation is irrelevant, we should be allowed. (Aside from the homophobes out there.)

I say, that both sides have a good reason to think that way HOWEVER whether you want to fight for a country that doesn't give you equal rights or not, you should be able to make that choice YOURSELF.

So...yes I believe homosexuals should be allowed in the army.

They certainly should.
America boasts constantly about equality, freedom and opportunities for all, but the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy takes away that freedom.

Absolutely. Why shouldn't we? Do we love our country any less because we're gay? Absolutely not. Not allowing openly gay people to serve is discrimination, plain and simple and it takes us back to the dark ages.

EDIT: And for that matter, I'd even go so far as to say that gay people that still want to serve for a country that still discriminates against us so much and denies us fundamental rights, are even more dedicated than most.
