depends on gallons, but african cichlids are avery popluar choice for rooms like this.
A goodsize is about 75 gallons, with wood stand and wood canapy. This will add a very nice look to the tank.
crushed coral bottom, along with plenty of slate and rocks to make a cave background wall.
For filteration you should get a canister, ehiem pro 2 are cheap now. Heater etc...
for plants, anabuis nana is very hardy and fine in higher ph level tanks.a few of those.
on a light contrast bottom, 1 frontosa would look lovely due to their darker blue coloration, they will get big so i wouldnt be looking to into a largegroup of them. Peacocks, are what you should be looking at. Alittle large for african cichlids but usually reaching about 6-7 inches which isnt bad. They come in a wide range of coloration and live in groups. Mbumas are alittle small for a 75 gallon and wont fair well with a frontosa.
As for catfish, syno... catfish are african cichlid friendly. There are alot of species of syno catfish so look into this. They are spotted and add a good coloration to the tank and they will act as regular catfish and eat left over food.
So i would look into for a 75.
1 frontosa,
13 peacocks,
2 syno catfish(i like feather fins)
This would be a very nicely stocked tank.
