What would you pay for freedom?
Would you pay it like any bill?
A simple annoyance that money fulfills
Or was the cost of freedom paid back in '76
By some old dead white men that stuck out their necks
Is freedom a right like cheap gasoline?
Keep it under 4 bucks so you won't hear us scream
We pay for our cable our vacations and food
Now I don't want to go and sound rude
But now as we celebrate our Independence Day
Who will be ready to step up and pay?
Before you soak the coals and light the fire
Ask yourself if you can man the wire

As a WAC trained by my Uncle Sam (graduated last class '77)
I'd defend our land the best I can
I'd pay the price for liberty
And kill whatever S.O.B
Was trying to take it all away
The ultimate price I would pay
So that my little grandchildren would
Have freedom and a life that's good.
