It was a british series, cant remember what channel it was on but it was a while ago, maybe the 80s or early 90s and it featured a house on an island and a man investigating it who used to go over to it on a boat after seeing lights on in the house and a woman in a white dress stood at one of the windows. I can remember there were scary dolls in the house that used to cry and a picture/painting of a woman who's eyes used to follow you....any of this ring any bells as a few of us have been trying to remember what it was called
