Do you recommend an external flash?

I have Canon Rebel G and XTi. I recently bought a Tamron 75-300mm zoom lens.
Is the built in flash adequate enough to shoot picture inside such as Museum, graduations, parties and etc. Or do I need a external flash? If I do, what is a cheap flash?
 
Yes! Two things I can't live without, good light and good glass.

External flash is the first step into understanding about how change the dynamic of a photo with artificial lighting. I would recommend looking at the 430EX II if you can afford it, and the mk I if you can't. Also its worth considering the Sigma EF500 Super flashgun if you're on a shoestring. Metz 48 AF1 is also in there with a strong shout due to it's USB firmware updater, very handy when Canon keeps on building in obsolescence.

But yeh, when you've used a flashgun, and off camera flash you'll never want to go back. Ditto with when you've used an L lens.
