Do you really "need" the Wii Motion + Add on to "play" Wii Sports Resort?

I'm asking if it's ABSOLUTELY Necessary to HAVE a WM+ to play the game. I'm asking, can you play the game WITHOUT a WM+? I don't care if it's not as fun or if the experience is not as great. I'm asking, if I have the game but no WM+, can I play the game? Does the game prevent you from playing it IF you DON'T have the WM+?
