Do you pay a deposit with Ntelos or T Mobile for no credit?

I'm applying for a credit card. I want to get a cell phone plan in my name. This is going to be my first credit card, so I have no previous credit history. Will I have to pay a huge deposit, even though I have a credit card to put it on?

Also, I live in Virginia Beach, VA, can anyone tell me how the Ntelos service is over here?
