I want to mummify apples with my year 4 class and all the instructions I have found online suggest using half salt and half baking soda. Is the baking soda necessary?
I can get a bag of cheap salt but the baking soda is more expensive as I can only seem to find small tubs so I don't want to use it unless I have to! Can anyone tell me what the purpose of using half of each is?
