Do you need an unlimited internet plan in order to use the tmobile htc touch pro 2?

I have a tmobile plan that includes 700 wheneer minutes, unlimited texting and unlimited picture/video/multi-media texting. Will that be enough to use the htc touch pro 2? And on other tmobile phones, like the samsung gravity, there are IMing clients that you can use without using the internet. Is that availible for the touch pro 2?
