Do you need a Gaming computer for the Sims 3 to work?

I have a new laptop, and it's not a gaming computer or a computer with lots of memory, or whatever. It runs pretty fast, and I was wondering if I bought the Sims 3 for the PC if I'd be worth it on my computer? Thanks. 10 points to best answer!
