I have one but is it necessary? I am a sole proprietorship and have no employees. I do have a tax ID number. I just wondered because I just paid my county business taxes and they have me listed as a "retail" business and that is not accurate. Then I looked it up on ehow.com and it said that you only need a license when you could do harm to the public (like food service, hair salon, etc.). Nobody ever comes to my home. I recruit for sales positions all over the USA.
