Do you need 2 copies of a game to play system linked xboxes offline?

I'm pretty sure you need 2 copies if you want to connect both xbox systems to live, but if you play just offline with 2 tvs, 2 xbox 360s connected with simply an ethernet cable, would you need 2 copies of the game as well? THANKS!
