"On the question of whether or not Iraq was involved in 9-11, there was never any evidence to prove that," Dick Cheney told the "On The Record" host in a joint interview with his daughter Liz. "There was "some reporting early on but that was never borne out," Cheney said. "George did say and did testify that there was an ongoing relationship between al-Qaeda and Iraq, but no proof that Iraq was involved in 9-11." Cheney said in a 2009 interview. In stark contrast Asked in 2004 if Iraq was involved in the attacks, Cheney was less clear with his answer, telling CNBC "We don't know." He criticized the "irresponsible" media for reporting that there were no links between al-Qaeda and Iraq. "There clearly was a relationship. It's been testified to. The evidence is overwhelming," Cheney said. This shows how information was distorted during the Bush Administration years. The American People were led to believe that Iraq and 9/11 were related when there is no solid evidence of this. There is no evidence that Iraq and Al Queada cooperated on attacks against the USA. While Al Queada did try to build a relationship, Iraq never responded. Clearly we can see that the Bush Administration made their assertations based on beliefs rather then solid evidence. If we are to clearly justify a war, we need proper evidence and solid data rather then fear being our motivation to invade.
