BRAVE MOM

The mother bird sits so dutifully,
Above the broken nest,
Unaware that all her eggs are smashed,
She guards without a rest,

A mother doe fights a wolf,
Without a horn on her head,
The fawn see's his mother die,
She kept on fighting as she bled,

A mother bear stands between,
Her cub and the gun,
She stared it down the barrel,
Forcing her cub to run,

A mother fish distracts,
The predators eyes,
She sits as easy prey,
For her eggs she dies,

A mother lion guards,
Her baby from its death,
As hyenas slowly circle,
She draws her long last breath,

A mother cheetah runs to fight,
The lion heading towards the den,
She pushes the babies into flight,
Then dies trying to protect them.

A mother horse whinies in fear,
But stands her ground for her child,
As the wolves draw so near,
Her fright has made her mild,

Different spots on the food chain,
But each alike each other,
Love and credit be given,
There's courage in a mother.
