Falling in a sheet,
Tucking me in at night.
On the roof, a beat,
Like the one in my chest.

Thump, thump. Thump, thump.

I crumble away in my bed,
Swaying to sleep.
Dreams begin to tread
Into my mind.

Thump, thump. Thump, thump.

The sweet, peaceful serenity
Engulfs the atmosphere around me
Muffling reality
Taking me under

Thump, thump. Thump, thump.

The constant but inconsistent lulling
Pulses on my ear drums
Very dully
Like the rat-tat-tat of the little drummer boy, fading into the distance

Thump, thump. Thump, thump.

Thump, thump. Thump…

Thump, thump…
