I used to read it a lot when I was a kid, it was one of my favourites. It was about a kid, and I don't remember much of what his purpose was, but there were badgers and he was trying to save them from people, who I think were making them fight dogs, and there were werewolves, and some references to the legend of Bisclavret, and there was a big family of kids who the main kid thought were all bullies and degenerates, but then it turned out they were nice and they helped him. Also, I think he had a crazy grandma.
