Do you HAVE to wear a bicycle helmet while riding a bike?

Do you HAVE to wear a helmet while you ride a regular bicycle? I heard that you can get fined for not wearing one? I live in Toronto, Canada (scarborough). I don't need answers like "its for your own safety" or stuff like that.
