high school counselor(Read more below)? I'm taking Early Childhood & Education at the career center starting Tuesday(September 6th) and that's the closest program that they have for what I wanna do which is be a high school counselor. I do know that you need teaching experience to become a school counselor, but I can't seem to find what grade level. I also know that in order to become a school counselor, all states require state regulated certification in counseling young adults and children. You would think that it would be obvious as to what grade level you would teach for your teaching experience depending on whether you wanted to be an elementary(Kindergarten-8th grade) or secondary school(9th-12th grade) counselor. The only thing is that I wanna be a high school counselor, but do NOT wanna teach high school.
I also forgot to add above that I really wanna teach preschool, Kindergarten, or first grade as my teaching experience. But if I wanna be a high school counselor then I don't see that as an option even though I know how high school kids are and such because I did a job shadowing last year with a high school counselor.
