I wasn't aware rice really had that much nutritional value. On my package of Basmati rice it says on the bottom to retain more vitamins do not rinse before cooking...?

depends on what i'm cooking for the most part i don't and it depends on which rise you're talking about some do have a lot of nutritional value some don't
A rice like Basmati or Jassmati is usually not enriched so the vitamins are natural so they can not be rinsed away. Its a good idea to rinse first to get excess starch out and secondly to inspect for any matter that should not be there.
