im about to flash my bios but i dont want to reinstall vista cause i no longer have the disc. all i want to know is if i have to reinstall vista if i flash my bios

BIOS flash might lose some driver functionality, and then you have to go find the driver that ran a video capture card, for instance, or a serial cabeled flatbed scanner.

If it all comes unglued, you can always use Linux. Download Ubuntu and burn the ISO to CD before you flash. Flashing BIOS never did anything for me except convince tech support their PCI firewire video capture card did not work with Win98.

no, the bios and the operating system are stored on completely different components. But If something goes wrong during the flash then your board or the chip has to be replaced.
