do you have to notify financial aid office if you back out of the work study?

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman college student who is currently receiving financial aid. I qualified for the federal work study program, but I do not want to work this year. So, I am backing out of it, but do I need to notify them of my intentions, or just let the financial aid office figure it out? if i do have to notify them, specifically how do i do it? serious answers are appreciated. thanks
