Well, I am a rookie this year and this would be my first year.
I have diabetes too, and it's not that easy to take care of (I need my mom's help to help keep track of blood sugars, etc.). I don't think I will be able to go, but in future years, I will be able too because my insulin will be controlled by a pump.
So, if I don't go, will I not be able to march/be in marching band? My mom hasn't talked to my director yet, so I'm not sure.
Or does it depend on your school's marching band policy?
