do you have to engage in useless chit chat with co workers?

I don't like to talk. I know you have to engage in useless chit chat with customers but is it necessary to engage in useless chit chat with coworkers (The only time I feel it necessary to talk to them is when it is about business). Will not engaging in useless chit chat with them get me fired?

2nd question: Is there any jobs that do not require degrees that pay 30,000 per year before taxes?
I really do not like school and would like to stay away from the classroom for life (high school was quite enough for me thank you)
 
Question 1: yes, it will get you fired. Mostly because they can badmouth you, and you aren't there to defend yourself.

Question 2: yes, there are plenty. $15/hour is not an ambitious goal.
