Do you have to be a certain age to get a savings/bank account?

I'm thirteen, and I want to get some kind of account where I can just keep adding money to it whenever I get money (babysitting, chores, blah blah blah). And I plan on keeping the money there until I'm older and I move out, and then can use it for anything I need to. But I want to make sure no one can touch that money. Not even my mom. (She literally has a stealing problem)

So, should I get a bank account for that?
 
I'm not sure, I was 16 when I set up my bank account at Bank Of America and they had no problems giving it to me, my mom didnt even have to be on the account. I think it varies from bank to bank, because a few of my friends tried at Heritage Trust and Wachovia, and they said no.
Just call the banks and ask :] You have to have a certain amount of money in there though, I think.
