My brother was a passenger in a vehicle that had been pulled over, the police found 2 bags of pot under the drivers seat, charged the driver with one and my brother the other. the driver never said it was my brothers, but the police took him in anyway. while at court the judge went straight to trial, instead of pretrial, then when my brother pleaded not guilty to a minor misdemeanor charge and asked for an attorney, the judge denied him one. i thought no matter what the charges were you have a right to an attorney and if you can not afford one, the court will appoint you one?? Can someone give a little advice?
my brother is poor enough to get a cort appointed attorney, he has before (not that it is a good thing). he thought he was being treated unfairly by the court and judge. he has another court hearing because he pleaded not guilty, the judge had told him to just plead guilty and pay the fine, he refused.
