I remember in HS having a gay friend come out to his mom and she was devastated that her idea of a big wedding and a wife were flushed down the toilet. So much so that she was in denial.
Another friend of mine dropped out of college and went to work on construction and his dad was torn up that he wouldn't be a doctor like him.
