I hitch-hiked long distances back in the '70's and could write a small book about some of my experiences then. Did you ever hop a train or get picked up by crazy people from West Virginia? Or pick up a hiker whose face you saw later on the front page of the paper, charged with kidnapping/murder? That was scary and about the time I stopped picking up strangers...
