When I arrived into the fleet my unit was still practicing what was called the wish bone.
you were led into a room where there was one marine sitting in a chair. you were told to kneel in front of him with you hands behind your head, fingers interlocked, then you were blind folded and then you heard a whole bunch of people enter the room someone traps your arms behind your head and you are pulled back while two people take a leg each and spreads them apart, once this is done everyone in the platoon takes a punch at the inside of your thigh of course some miss the thigh. once everyone has had a punch at each thigh you hear everyone leave the room and you are told to take the blind fold off and the guy is sitting in the chair (only one left in the room) he informs you that you just experienced a wishbone and that it is a behavior modification tool and if you keep your nose clean and do what you are told you will never have one again.
That is not done much anymore
Of course a blanket party one one of the F ups in boot camp, happens just like it did in full metal jacket. It helps you get some anger out but not for the guy on the receiving end
Also
E-tool Qualifications In volves geting them to chop up their own cover with an E-tool while blind folded
Phycological Sit ups you dont even want to know
Typhon Watches- make them get geared up in full combat gear to watch for typhons
Sea Bat Watch (aboard ship) same as a typhon watch but aboard a ship standing on the bow watching for non existing sea bats that migh hit the radar
Sending people all over the base to get a boxof grid squares
Getting people to go to supply to get 100 feet of shore line or chow line (sounds stupid but people are so nervous when they arrive in the fleet they dont figure it out right away)
We use to use a radio called a PRC 77 but we called it a pri-ck 77 and a gunnery SGT is an E-7 so we would sned the FNG to the gunny's office to find us a Prick E-7 that doesnt work so we could do a radio repair class
